Teaching Scholarships Go To The Wise

Teaching scholarships usually don't go to just anyone average. Having passion and purpose in your educational goals will help you differentiate yourself. After all, any person on a solid path in life can probably point to an outstanding and caring teacher that was a positive role model in their life.

Having a few teachers in my immediate family, I know that the frustrations and work load can be exhausting. However, the rewards of making a difference in a young person's life can be many.

The first place to begin your search is to be a wise consumer. Knowing where the biggest scholarship sources are and how to get after them is critical.

Don't be fooled into chasing private scholarship monies only. Be sure to learn from my free webinar the importance of selecting the right circle of schools that are right for you AND offer the most free scholarship money.

Have a "Plan B"

While teaching may be a driving passion for you today here's why having a backup major or two at the same school will be one of the smartest steps to take:

  1. Reality of the job can quickly diffuse your passion.
    1. Too many student teachers come to grips way late in their degree programs that teaching just isn't really for them.
    2. Try job shadowing as early as possible while in high school, freshman year in college at the very latest.

  2. Finding a teaching job can often prove very difficult.
    1. The cycles of birth rates, relocations, local shool budgets and the supply/demand in your specific geographic target area can wreak havoc on a new college graduate's job search.

  3. Starting teacher's salaries have increased but may still not be enough to cover both your obligations and your goals.
    1. The level of student loans you choose play a big part in this.

Ready to Look?

What Clients Are Saying

“…without your involvement, we never would have thought to approach the college directly…. We got the documentation together to obtain residency, created letters to send and were granted residency which translated to $20,000 in savings.

THEN we went back and said, 'don’t take away her out-of-state scholarship just because she is now a resident' and got OSU to maintain the $7,000 scholarship".

"We would like to express our appreciation for the service that our daughter received.

She is our first child to go through the college application process, and it was very intimidating for our whole family. You were able to create a clear, understandable path for our daughter.

As a result of all of this hard work, our daughter was offered three presidential scholarships at various colleges, including a full tuition scholarship to a private college.

Thanks again, and we look forward to working with you on our son's upcoming college search."

"HWS presented an above average financial aid award, however, it included some work study. With your guidance, I went back and asked that the work study be converted to either grant or scholarship to relieve the financial burden while allowing my daughter to focus on academics.

They came back with the conversion AND continued to keep her eligible for an equal amount of money through work study."
